"A U.S. specification Volvo 244 in a condition that you don't see often today."

Description

This Volvo was purchased new in June 1980 by a Swedish couple living in California. It has U.S. specifications, including features such as air conditioning, power steering, central locking, a catalytic converter, power windows in the front, and a U.S.-spec front. The car was primarily used as a second car/shopping car by the couple's wife. An earthquake in 1994 caused some small dents and dings in the car's body when items from the garage shelves fell onto the car.

In 1995, the Volvo was brought back to Sweden to be used during the summers when the couple visited. In 2005, it ended up with the current owner and has been used very sparingly, covering approximately 300 miles since then. The car is in an untouched original condition and in very good shape. It has been recently serviced with new engine oil, filters, and spark plugs, and it recently passed the vehicle inspection without any issues.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is in good and well-maintained condition. The headliner is intact and in good condition. The armrests on both front doors have some small cracks, as shown in the pictures.

  • Exterior condition:

The original paint is in very good and glossy condition. There are some dents on the body, primarily on the car's trunk and roof, but also in other areas, as shown in the pictures. The rust protection on the Volvo's undercarriage appears to be in good condition. When the car was photographed, no signs of welding were observed.

  • General condition:

A Volvo in an interesting and well-maintained condition. Newly inspected and ready to drive.

Facts about the model

The Volvo 240 was an evolution of the Volvo 140 and was introduced in 1974. On the early models of the Volvo 240, you can clearly see design elements in the front end that were inspired by the Volvo VESC (Volvo Experimental Safety Car) concept. The 240, including the Volvo 260, enjoyed great sales success and is Volvo's most produced model series with approximately 2.86 million units. It was categorized, much like its predecessor, into the 242 (two-door version), 244 (four-door version), and 245 (estate/wagon model). These designations were officially removed starting with the 1983 model year, and instead, all versions were officially referred to as the 240. However, the designations continued to be used internally and colloquially to specify the body type.
