"Last inspected in 2005, ridden for the last time in 2006, and stored in the owner's garage since, this bike has been consistently started and maintained. It needs a minor service for its final inspection, but it starts easily and performs well in terms of gearbox and brakes."

Description

Introducing a remarkable pushrod V Twin superbike, boasting a top speed of 209 km/h, leaving iconic rivals like Kawasaki's H, Honda's 4, and Trident in its wake. Its distinctive cafe racer styling, featuring swan-neck clip-on bars and an elongated flat seat, harks back to an era of racing elegance. Originally adorned in Legnano Green, this model was crafted between 1972 and 1974, with an estimated production run of 3,000 to 4,000 units. Beyond 5,000 rpm, it catapults you into a world where time seems to blur.

Since acquiring the bike in 1987, the owner rode it annually across Europe until a 2006 back injury temporarily halted the riding experience. Originally Legnano Green, the bike was repainted in red and black scheme to the owner's preference.

Throughout its history, the bike has seen several upgrades and replacement parts, including air-controlled front forks, a Renault Dauphine starter motor, a custom exhaust system, rear spring replacement, electronic ignition, a custom leather seat, and an oil filter kit with a conveniently located screw-on filter. Many of these parts were sourced from the respected Moto Guzzi dealer TLM in Holland, supplemented by older components and a new grinded crankshaft. This superbike represents a passion for both riding and preservation, a unique masterpiece tailored by its dedicated owner.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Quick to start, but the battery needs replacing. The engine runs smoothly, with easy gear shifts and responsive brakes. While the current tires are functional, they're aged and should be replaced. It's due for a review and service to pass its final inspection. Not entirely original, but the newer upgrades enhance reliability and ease of ownership and riding.

  • Interior condition:

The leather seat is a custom creation by a skilled saddler, while the original seat remains intact underneath. There is minor damage on the left front corner, as shown in the provided pictures.

  • Exterior condition:

The bike is free from rust or dents, but it does exhibit signs of aging in its paintwork, with paint chips and marks primarily on the frame, along with a few scuffs on the cylinder heads. The petrol tank would benefit from a repaint to restore its appearance. Additionally, the old hand grips are due for replacement. You have the flexibility to enjoy it as is or opt for a repaint to restore it to its original color scheme—either way, the choice is yours.

  • General condition:

Finding one of these bikes for sale is a rare opportunity, and it still offers an exhilarating ride and reliable ownership experience today. I would recommend considering a restoration to return it to its original color scheme and fitting a more authentic exhaust system and seat. This would not only enhance its authenticity but also pay homage to its iconic heritage.
