"It could be a great find for a VW enthusiast."

Description

This 1967 Volkswagen 1500 has covered approximately 10,162 miles since new. The car had a previous owner before the current owner's family purchased it in December 1969. During the 1970s and 80s, it was used as a second car within the family. The car was repainted in its original color in the 1990s. From 1990 to 2007, it was used as a summer car and frequently driven to and from the family's cabin. During the winter months, it was stored and parked in a carport. It has been regularly cared for and maintained but has not been used in the last two years. The front seats have been equipped with backrests with integrated headrests. This modification was carried out at an auto workshop in the 1990s. However, the original backrests in their original condition are still preserved and come with the car. The VW failed its inspection, as seen in the inspection report photo.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The engine and drivetrain are in good condition. However, it failed its inspection on September 21, 2023, as shown in the inspection report photo. This car is a project for someone with mechanical skills.

  • Interior condition

The interior is in fair condition with some wear, such as a hole in the driver's seat cushion and wear on the lower part of the backrest. Volkswagen's front seats have been equipped with backrests with integrated headrests. The original backrests come with the car. There are stains on the seat upholstery, as well as on the headliner and door panels. The rubber mats are in decent condition. The instrument panel is in a nice and well-maintained condition.

  • Exterior condition

The older repaint exhibits minor issues like paint peeling, rust spots, and scratches, as seen in the pictures. The body also has some small dents. The chrome trim shows signs of wear and oxidation. Some rubber seals are in poorer condition. There's some rust on the underside of the floor pan. The right side mirror is broken, but the original mirror glass in perfect condition is included.

  • General condition

A VW 1500 in a condition that could be a great find for someone skilled in car restoration.

Facts about the model

In 1967, the VW Type 1 introduced the new, more powerful 1500 engine in its top model. This engine was also used in larger cars like the Type 2, the Bus, Type 3, and the Variant. The engine produced 44 horsepower, allowing the Beetle to reach a top speed of nearly 140 km/h. For this reason, the model was equipped with front and rear anti-roll bars and front disc brakes. Today, these cars are rare and highly sought after because they offer a more spirited and enjoyable driving experience compared to the simpler 1300 models with 34 and 40 horsepower. This is a great opportunity for VW collectors to acquire an original car that is correct in every way.
