Mechanical condition
The car started easily and ran smoothly in both the engine and drivetrain. The classic inline-six with fuel injection and 129 hp, paired with the five-speed gearbox, performs its job well. During a calm test drive through a residential area with the top down, the car felt smooth and comfortable, and everything appeared to function properly regarding steering, clutch, shifting, and brakes. It hasn’t been inspected on a lift, but everything visible looked good, and there were no remarks from the inspection regarding the undercarriage. However, the casing of the front muffler is rusted—there’s a photo from the owner showing this.
-
Interior condition
The interior is in good condition with normal wear for its age and mileage, with some seam cracks on the upper part of the rear seat. The seats and rear bench have good support. Door panels and trim are in good condition. The steering wheel, controls, buttons, and instruments are in good shape. The fuel consumption gauge is a bit erratic and may not function reliably. The headliner in the hardtop is in good condition with some minor wear. A wind deflector for the rear seat is included.
-
Exterior condition
The paint is in good condition, though signs of repainting can be seen around the trim areas. There is some bubbling at the wheel arch near the rocker panel on the rear passenger side. Otherwise, the car is glossy, and the glass, emblems, plastic, rubber, and lighting components are in good shape. A rubber seal is missing near the rear side window on the passenger side. The BBS wheels are in fine condition, as are the Nokian tires. The engine bay and trunk are in good condition considering the car’s age and mileage. The soft top (replaced in 2010) and hardtop are both in good shape. However, there are missing covers for the soft top latches near the “B-pillar” when the top is down.
-
General condition
Sure, it has been used and has its minor blemishes. These can be fixed, or you can enjoy it as it is. A full detailing would certainly elevate it. Regardless, this is a wonderful car to take on a nostalgia trip and relive the E30 and Yuppie era. Whether it’s to recapture the spirit of those times or to finally experience what was hot back then, this is a fine classic and enthusiast car.

Facts about the model
BMW rolled out two- and four-door versions, ranging from calm pensioner editions to pure racing models for those with extra shoulder pads in their blazers. In the first few years, there was no convertible in sight, but Bauer produced a targa/soft-top version. In the early ’80s, car manufacturers were still hesitant about soft-top cars due to safety concerns, which almost killed the joy of open-air driving. However, one by one, they began releasing convertible versions to a market hungry for open driving again. When BMW finally released its own “proper” convertible based on the E30, it was a hit. The model in all its variations became a symbol of youth and success. The demand in Sweden outpaced supply, and soon the import train was rolling.
In 1991, the new E36 model replaced the E30 in sedan form, but the E30 Cabriolet continued to be produced until the 1994 model year.
