"Rare and well-preserved. Could be improved if the engine is fixed."

Description

The Buick was purchased new by Björkå mill in 1937. It has a delivery decal from Ostermans affixed to the dashboard. The Buick was driven by a private chauffeur at Björkå mill from 1937 to 1957, when it was replaced with a Mercedes. The car does not have a partition window for the passengers in the back seat, this was so the chauffeur could converse with them as the car traveled between the seven different locations owned by the mill. The car likely sat unused for many years before it changed owners in 1966 to a person from Sollefteå who owned the car until 2000 when the current owner purchased it. It is said that this model is the only remaining 37 limo in Sweden. According to reports, the royal stables had a similar one with the registration number A7. The car was repainted and some chrome details were re-chromed between 2000-2003, during which it also received new tires, brakes, and an exhaust system. It was inspected in 2003 and has been in traffic since then. The car is registered for 8 passengers but currently, there is a table placed on the seats facing the chauffeur. The owner has mainly used the car for driving wedding couples, but also for some car events and trips to and from various events around the region of Uppsala. From our visual inspection, we note that a freeze plug has leaked and there also appears to be a longitudinal crack at this point, see pictures. The odometer reads 75 km and it seems the meter has been reset. Some documentation accompanies the car.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The engine was initially a bit grumpy, but after warming up, it performed better. According to the owner, the car needs a review of the brake system. A freeze plug on the left side of the engine appears to be leaking. It also seems like the block has a horizontal freeze crack; see pictures. The semaphore indicators are a bit tired and did not want to deploy during the photo session.

  • Interior condition

Interior with nice patina. Considering the age of the car, the upholstery, floor mats, and headliner have held up very well.

  • Exterior condition

The paint is in good condition. Repainted sometime between the years 2000-2003 in black. The original color can be seen on the floor of the trunk, see picture. The trim and some other details have been rechromed. Straight and nice in the body lines.

  • General condition

The car is in a good patinated condition. The engine and semaphores need to be reviewed, and the freeze crack and frost plug should be addressed. Otherwise, the Buick is in good working condition.
