"The bodywork is straight and good, and all panels and gaps are proper. It appears to have been driven lightly and was never severely rusted or repaired. Every detail is wonderful. A one-of-a-kind collector's condition."

Description

The present owner's uncle, who lives in Lysvik, Frykendalen, Värmland, purchased the car new in 1952. He drove the car until 1964, when it was housed on the property in Lysvik in a building used as a smithy. The uncle died in 1990, and the present owner, who was thus the nephew, took over the car in the subsequent property transfer. The nephew pulled it out and started the car, and he was pleasantly astonished at how nice it was. He lives in Stockholm, so he drove the car there and began working on his garage

The current owner's uncle, living in Lysvik in Frykendalen in Värmland, bought the car new in 1952. He used the car until 1964, when it was stored in a building used as a smithy, on the farm in Lysvik. In 1990, the uncle died and the current owner, who was thus the nephew, took over the car in the subsequent division of property. The nephew took it out and started the car and was surprised at how nice it was. He lives in Stockholm so he drove the car there and started renovating his garage. When we asked how the renovation was carried out, he told us that he started by dismantling one thing at a time and going through every detail, so it was restored to as close a new condition as possible. After this, all things were put on shelves, ready for reassembly. When the body was clean, some small rust holes were made under the seats. By the way, the car was almost stainless. The body was fully painted, both underneath and inside and outside in a color that is close to the original color, bottle green. After this, everything was reassembled, for a year and the car could be approved at the car test in the autumn of 1991. The owner estimates that the car has traveled 13200 km and since it was driven very little in the winter and always stood in the forge, it has done so well. The engine did not need to be renovated as the uncle had bought a replacement engine shortly before the car was put away. The original engine must be stored and is currently being sought in Lysvik. When the car was completely renovated, it was taken back to Värmland and used for a couple of summers before it was set up for display at Torsby Vehicle Museum.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The engine and transmission are in good working order, but the car need a start-up service, as well as fresh fuel and a battery, because it has not been used in the last five years. It is also possible that the brakes will need to be examined. The car rolls freely, but the owner claims that some of the brakes on the right side are sluggish. As a result, it also includes new brake parts and several other car spare parts (see photos). The car also comes with the original first registration certificate and instruction book, as well as a big folder full of documents from renovation and car testing and more.

  • Interior condition

The interior design is original. The seats still have their original upholstery because they had Artex seat covers until 1991. The speedometer and steering wheel have been completely restored, and they appear brand new. The vast majority of the carpets are original. The entire headliner has been replaced.

  • Exterior condition

Very nice body, straight and smooth in the panels, door and hood slots match flawlessly. It appears to have never been dented or rusted. Chrome details and moldings are original and in good condition with no flaws. The glass panes are immaculate, as are all of the rubber strips. All of everything is original, and it has held up so well because the car has always been stored dry and away from sunshine. Underbody, engine compartment, and luggage are all quite impressive. After painting, the car is additionally thoroughly rust-protected below and in cavities. Despite the fact that the car has been painted for 30 years, the paint is of great quality and still perfect, with a lovely gloss.

  • General condition

One of the finest and best early Saab´s we've ever seen. Every detail is a joy to see. It is also designed to be utilized, which is why it has been carefully coated with anti-corrosion agents. It looks just as good under the carpets and in the finer details as it does on the exterior. It has only gone 300 kilometers since its renovation in 1991, with the most recent being in the summer of 2017.
