Description
This Volvo has been family-owned since it was purchased from Upplands Motor in October 1990, where it had been used as a demo vehicle. The car has been driven by one family member up to the present day. It hasn’t been used for long trips, mostly serving for commutes and trips to a summer cottage in Norrtälje. The owner has meticulously maintained the car, and it has always been stored in a garage. It has also been used sporadically during the winter months. In 2011, the owner was involved in a minor collision in a roundabout, and Bilia was tasked with repairing the Volvo. They addressed all the damage to the body and paintwork, and a front headlight was also replaced.
During 2024, the car has seen very little use. The trip meter stopped working in 2023 just before the inspection, which was carried out on April 20, 2023. Based on the owner’s calculations and saved fuel receipts since then, the car has driven approximately 80 kilometers, assuming a fuel consumption rate of around 10 liters per 100 kilometers. A set of four studded winter tires from Hakkapeliitta on alloy wheels is included with the car, as shown in the picture. All relevant documentation is also available.
Owner’s list of repairs and services over the years:
• 1991 - Service at 15,300 km.
• 1992 - Service at 29,600 km.
• 1997 - Exhaust system replacement excluding the front pipe.
• 2000 - Service at 75,090 km.
• 2003 - Service at 86,130 km.
• 2007 - Service, engine cleaning, and replacement of the water pump and repair of a leak in the cooling system at 93,460 km.
• 2010 - 105,000 km service at 99,710 km, including timing belt and front brake pad replacement.
• 2014 - Service of the main brakes and replacement of the front brake hoses.
• 2016 - Brake fluid and front brake caliper replacement.
• 2017 - New headliner.
• 2018 - New battery, new pulse sensor, etc.
• 2019 - Rust repair and painting of the right and left rear fenders.
• 2019 - Replacement of a part in the gear shift mechanism due to difficulty engaging 1st gear and reverse.
All inspection records from 1992 onwards are included with the car, as well as documentation related to the above-mentioned work.

Mechanical condition
The engine and drivetrain run smoothly. The brakes are responsive and work evenly.

Interior condition
The “Volvo R.Sport” seat covers have been on since the family purchased the car. They are now a bit dry and brittle. The condition of the original seat fabric underneath is uncertain, but when we checked the passenger seat cushion, the fabric looked to be in good condition. The headliner is in good shape. The rubber floor mats and carpets are in okay condition. The door panels are also in good condition.

Exterior condition
The driver’s door and left rear door have a parking dent, as shown in the photos. Otherwise, the exterior is in decent, usable condition with signs of regular use.

General condition
With its (relatively low for a Volvo) 112,000 kilometers on the odometer, the car is in good and usable condition.

Facts about the model
Most of us have, at some point, owned, driven, ridden in, or have memories of a Volvo 740, a true Swedish classic. The new 700 series was launched in 1982, initially as a six-cylinder premium car. In 1984, the four-cylinder people’s car, the Volvo 740, was introduced. The first version was the GLE with fuel injection and 129 horsepower. Following that came the true volume model, the GL with a carburetor and 112 horsepower. In the fall of 1987, the GLT version was introduced with 16 valves and dual overhead camshafts. Our beloved “sossecontainer” (socialist container) was produced until 1992 in a variety of versions, both as a sedan and a wagon. It was replaced by an updated version with the 900 series. After years of hectic family life and hard work in commercial traffic, the number of these reliable workhorses is rapidly dwindling. For those that have been well cared for and have survived, a new era as an enthusiast car is now beginning.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
