Condition
-
Mechanical condition
Starts easily and ran as expected. Overall, it's tight and in good condition both in general and in detail. Inspected on a lift and looks good, there are a few small 'bubbles' on the left door.
-
Interior condition
The interior is in a pleasing original condition with good cushioning in the seats and consistently good condition on the seats, door panels, dashboard, instruments, and headliner. Original rubber floor mats.
-
Exterior condition
Nice and glossy paintwork with some variation on the rear fenders, which have been replaced. The left front fender also has some variation, replaced many years ago after a minor wildlife accident. Otherwise, in excellent condition. The so-called 'football rims' are also in good condition with new tires. Engine and luggage compartments in impeccable condition.
-
General condition
Both in terms of the exterior and interior as well as technically, this is a very nice, well-preserved, and well-cared-for car, indeed a genuine Swedish classic from the era of the welfare state.

Facts about the model
Over time, there were both major and minor changes, so that when it finally ended, you could place an early 92 next to an 80s model and see that not a single part was the same, yet you could still discern a clear family resemblance.
For the 1978 model year, the cars received the epithet and model designation Saab 96 GL, featuring larger parking and turn signal lights in the front. The taillights also became larger and now included reverse lights. The rear hatch got a spoiler-like handle. Towards the end of the production for the 1977 model year, the 96 received a new two-stage carburetor, increasing the output to 68 hp, which was expressed on the 1978 model year with the additional designation 'V4 Super' on the rear hatch. The following year, in 1979, all 96s were manufactured in Finland. They had black-framed windows, a black stripe along the side moldings, and a black-painted area between the taillights. The sought-after acacia green metallic paint was introduced as a new color.
According to reports, Saab 96 was produced in a total of 547,221 units.
