Description
The current owner purchased the car in 1998. It remained registered to their company until 2011, after which it was transferred to private ownership. The car has always been well maintained and used exclusively during the summer months. Due to the owner’s advancing age, it has seen limited use in recent years—hence the decision to sell.
Included with the car is an extensive collection of documentation, including receipts, original handbooks, workshop manuals, and numerous spare parts. Among these is the original camshaft, which was replaced during an upgrade. The car also comes with a factory hardtop, soft top and frame, and a driver’s tonneau cover.
The car has undergone a renovation, likely in the 1980s. It was red when acquired by the current owner, but its factory color was white, as confirmed by records. Overall, the car presents well. There are some minor blisters around the lower body and boot lid, but no serious rust issues. The underbody is solid.
Just recently, the car received an oil and fluid service along with a general inspection. It had been parked in the owner’s heated garage for the past two years. The brakes are slightly sticky on the left side, and while the clutch functions, it requires a long pedal press—suggesting the slave cylinder would benefit from renovation. Otherwise, the car runs and drives well, with strong performance and a fully functional overdrive. Milage is prboably.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
Starts easily with a bit of choke, and the engine runs smoothly with no strange noises. It drives very well—the sharper cam and triple SU carbs give it a real punch, and the overdrive engages perfectly. The upgraded aluminum radiator and expansion tank do their job well, keeping it cool with no signs of overheating. Only minor notes: the left front brake binds slightly, and the clutch cylinder could use a rebuild or replacement—it works fine when driving but feels a bit low. Recently serviced with fresh fluids, inspection-exempt, and ready to enjoy. Fitted with nice wire wheels, including the spare, and good older tires.
-
Interior condition
Clean and tidy red leather interior with white piping—all in great condition. Seats are in excellent shape all around, and a 5-point seatbelt is fitted for a sportier touch. Door cards and panels are good, and the carpet is in nice shape, just a little loose around the gearbox. The dashboard is clean with fully working gauges, topped off with a classic wooden steering wheel.
-
Exterior condition
The car presents very well with no dents, damage, or obvious rust issues—just a few small blisters around the lower body (see pictures). The underbody is clean and tidy with no signs of corrosion. There's some rust on the edge of the boot lid and an older repair on the underside of the bonnet. Paintwork is bright and clean, with some touch-ups and a few paint chips (see pictures). It comes with a nicely color-matched hardtop and a well-fitting soft top, both in good condition. The leather driver’s tonneau is complete and easy to fit, though it has a loose stitch on the passenger side—an easy fix.
-
General condition
This car just needs a couple of minor fixes—brake and clutch cylinders—and you’ve got yourself the perfect driver’s car to enjoy for many years to come. The cosmetic issues are minor, don’t stand out, and can easily be sorted over time. Finding a matching-numbers, Swedish-sold BT7 like this isn’t easy, so here’s your chance to grab a truly fun and iconic summer classic.
