"With a curb weight of only 750 kg and an engine producing just over 100 horsepower under the hood, there is great potential for a sporty driving experience. The sports car is ready to drive and has a passed inspection valid until June 30, 2028. The heirs selling the car point out that it has stalled a couple of times recently during test drives. We do not know what is causing the issue, but a tip is to start with the ignition switch, which reportedly has a loose connection. We naturally cannot guarantee that this will solve the problem, but it is a hot tip."

Description

The sports car, named Pegasus Seven Plus, was built in 1993 by a Mr. Gyllander from a German TÜV-approved kit and was registered as an amateur-built vehicle in Sweden in 1994. The frame is of tubular space-frame construction and the body is in Lotus Seven style. Documentation of the entire build exists in paper form, a full binder. In 1996, the car was acquired by a gentleman with a great passion for engines, residing in Storuman. The sports car became the owner's great hobby interest over the following 28 years, until his passing in December 2024.

The sports car has essentially always been registered in the name of the late owner's wife, but as has been explained to us, it was the husband who was the great sports car enthusiast and the car's driver. The car has almost exclusively been driven in Västerbotten County and stored in a heated garage in its hometown of Storuman when not in use. The exception is a longer enthusiast trip, from its hometown of Storuman to Skåne to visit the car's builder, combined with a visit to northern Germany connected to the TÜV-approved kit from which the car was built.

This example stands out for its long ownership within the same family, extensive build documentation, and classic Seven construction with a Ford 2.0 OHC EFI engine. The low weight and the direct response of the steering, throttle, and gearbox provide a very lively and entertaining driving experience, which has made the car a cherished hobby car for many years.
The odometer shows 58,700 km, consistent with the mileage recorded in the inspection records.
The sports car is now being sold by the estate of the late owner. Included with the car are service receipts including a timing belt replacement, a full binder of build documentation, and a spare wheel mounted at the rear of the car.

This is a remote auction. Photos and information about the vehicle and its technical condition have been obtained from the owner. BWA has therefore not inspected the car on site at the seller's location.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Ford 2.0 OHC EFI (Pinto engine) with a registered output of 101 hp. Equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox from a Ford Sierra. The front suspension, rear axle, and brake system are from a Ford Taunus. The steering system comes from a Ford Escort. In other words, European Ford components throughout. All of this has been approved by the Swedish vehicle inspection authority and entered in the registration certificate.

In the fall of 2025, a new battery was installed. During May/June 2026, the timing belt, oil, oil filter, and fuel filler hose were replaced. Starting issues have been diagnosed and resolved, and the front wheel bearings have been checked and adjusted. The cooling system, brakes, and other functions have been checked according to available documentation. Workshop receipts are available for this work.

NOTE: Please read the owner's comments.

  • Interior condition

The interior is in good condition considering the age of the car and gives a well-kept overall impression. The upholstery, panels, and other interior details are in good usable condition. The instrumentation, in the form of lighting, wipers, and horn, works well. The gauges for speed, engine rpm, and the trip meter work well. The gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and engine temperature should be considered indicative, as they do not always show entirely consistent values.

  • Exterior condition

The body is in good condition. The paint still has a good shine and gives a well-maintained overall impression. Considering the age of the car, normal age- and use-related wear is present. The soft top is in good usable condition. The fabric is intact and the mounting fasteners are all in place. The soft top has mainly been used as weather protection when needed, as the car has only been used as a summer vehicle. It is fitted with older tires, with acceptable tread, manufactured in 2013.

  • General condition

The car is in good running condition and has been continuously maintained. It has been driven sparingly in recent years. It is not in show condition, but it is presentable and ready to drive.

Owner's comment

During the summer of 2026, the car exhibited recurring starting problems and was therefore taken in for troubleshooting. Initially, a faulty starter motor was suspected, but the workshop's inspection instead revealed a voltage drop in the starter circuit and a loose cable connection, both of which were remedied. The workshop also noted some play in the ignition switch. Following these measures, the car has started normally. During the month of September, however, the car has stalled twice while being driven. On both occasions, the car restarted immediately without further action, with a functioning electrical system and full battery voltage. Engine power is normal. The malfunction has been intermittent and no definite cause has been established. No further workshop troubleshooting has been carried out, as considerable time has been devoted to handling an extensive estate settlement.

Facts about the model

The Lotus Super Seven is an iconic British sports car introduced by Colin Chapman in 1957. The car was built on the principle of "performance through low weight" and quickly became a favorite on both race tracks and public roads thanks to its extreme minimalism. It was constructed with a lightweight tubular frame chassis and a body in aluminum and fiberglass. The weight was often around 400–500 kg. To avoid the high British taxes of the era, the car was often sold as a kit. The buyer assembled it themselves in their own garage.

From the beginning, the Lotus Seven was the base model. The name "Super Seven" was used for the versions equipped with more powerful, tuned engines. Lotus produced the car in four different series until 1973. When Lotus decided to end production, the dealer Caterham Cars bought the rights. They still manufacture the Caterham Seven today, making the design one of the most long-lived in the automotive world.

In Sweden and the rest of the world, the design is also the foundation of an enormous "do-it-yourself" culture. Enthusiasts build their own replicas, which are registered as amateur-built vehicles.
