Description

Stearns Knight 1929 model J. Limousine a very rare luxurious seven seater. Motor is completely renovated in the seventies by Malte Månsson in Linköping and not used since. Body is beautifully restored for over €70,000 between 2011 and 2016. Little remains to completion. A unique and quite a well known car here in Sweden, it’s one of a handful left in the world. The car is sold unregistered with its old registration no is A 215

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

    Engine and Gearbox not fitted, no signs it’s been renovated. Back axle, driveshaft and steering box have been renovated. All electric systems to the engine not renovated had new tires.

  • Interior condition

    New upholstered seats, door card and inner panels, right front door interior not mounted. Floor carpets/mat available not fitted and new head liner. Various refitting jobs requires on the following... Electrics/lights, door handles/wind wider, detailing/moldings and wooden trim. The instrument panel needs refitting.

  • Exterior condition

    An ongoing renovation that’s nearly ready. New Ash tree in frame, repainted with some marks in the paint, bonnet needs painting. Some chrome detailing, front screen, cooler, grill and lights are ready to be fitted. Overall the exterior is 90% complete.

  • General condition

    Well done renovation that’s mostly complete. Here is a once in a lifetime chance to own such a rare vintage car.

Facts about the model

Stearns-Knight was an American luxury automobile produced in Cleveland, Ohio first by the F.B. Stearns Company from 1900 to 1925, and then under ownership by Willys Overland Company of Toledo, Ohio until 1929.
Frank Ballou Stearns left school at age 14 in 1893 in his freshman year at the Case School of Applied Science. Sterns became the first American automobile to use the sleeve valve Knight Engine in its vehicles in 1911. The company was sold in 1925 to John North Willys who maintained it as a non-integrated affiliate of Willys Overland.
Production of the Stearns-Knight ended on December 20, 1929.
