This Mercedes has had two owners and was sold new in 1978. It has always been stored in a heated garage when not in use. The current owner acquired the car in 2017 when the odometer read only 4,850 miles. He was familiar with the car as he had been responsible for its maintenance while it was still being used by the previous owner. Eventually, the Mercedes was put on jack stands and remained idle for 23 years. After flushing the fuel tank and installing a new fuel pump with accompanying filter, the car was up and running again. It also received new brake pads, front wheel bearings, and new tires. The owner also installed a new radio with Bluetooth and a touchscreen. The car is in excellent condition with a very well-preserved interior. As far as we can see, the Mercedes retains its original paint, which is also in good condition. The spoke wheels are not original. The current owner has used the car for summer drives, attending various car meets and excursions, and it has only accumulated about 500 miles since the current owner purchased it.

Mercedes, led by designer Friedrich Geiger, began working on the 1970s S-Class model as early as the mid-1960s. It was finally unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in the autumn of 1972. The new W116 S-Class model was introduced. It ranged from the entry-level 280 S/SE with a six-cylinder engine featuring Twincam, carburetor or fuel injection, to the powerful V8 models with 6.9 liters displacement. The six-cylinder models were available with either a manual or automatic transmission, with the manual being four-speed. The interior options included various variants of fabric, plush, and leather. As always, Mercedes prioritized safety, and the W116 was considered a very safe car for its time.
Initially, the 280 SE featured the D-Jetronic fuel injection, but from a certain model year, it was changed to the slightly simpler K-Jetronic system. The W116 model was produced until 1980, with a total of 473,035 units manufactured. Of these, there are still over 1,300 units remaining in Sweden today.

- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
