The car is in an unmodified original condition and was driven until 1991 when it was stored in a barn for renovation. At that time, it had only two owners (father and son) and had been driven in eastern Småland. In 2021, it was taken out and sold to a VW collector in Gothenburg who now realizes that he has too many cars. This Beetle is in relatively good condition. It doesn't have much rust damage in the spare tire well, as they usually do. However, there is rust in the heat channels (see pictures) on both sides (probably because it was driven year-round until the late 1970s). There are also rust holes in the floor at the back on the driver's side, see pictures. Since the car has been sitting for a long time, the engine was started now, with a loose bottle of gasoline in the engine compartment, before the fuel pump. The engine sounds normal. The fuel tank needs cleaning and fuel lines need to be replaced before the car can be started in the usual way. The battery is missing. The car received an older repaint in the original color (L240 Agave Green) sometime in the 1970s, and the paint has flaked off in some places. The door sides were also reupholstered at that time. The car needs new paint, new carpets, and door upholstery on the inside to be really nice. The odometer has gone around once, so the car has probably traveled about 170 000 km according to our estimate (based on visible wear). Overall, it is a good renovation project as it is complete, has good history, and is not too worn out.

The car needs a startup service, tank cleaning, and brake inspection. Additionally, welding work is required on the underside of the sills.

The instrument panel is in good condition, with clear glass and an original headliner. The door panels and carpets show signs of wear. The seats have their original upholstery, but the rear seat cushion is from a slightly newer Beetle.

The car is in normal used condition, with rust in the common areas. Replacement panels are available, for example, at VW Custom in Hyllinge. The car can be brought back to life with a start service, brake repairs, and welding, but it can be used as it is on the outside. It looks decent as it is.

Good overall impression, visually, but it needs a technical inspection and some sheet metal work. After these repairs, the car can be used as it is. It also provides a good foundation for a full restoration as it is complete and untouched since earlier.

Fakten zum Modell
VW typ 1 with an oval rear window was produced between 1953 and 1957. In the fall of 1957, as a 1958 model, the new square rear window and new dashboard were introduced, among other changes. Today, the oval-window Beetles have attained the same cult status as the ones with a split rear window (referred to as Split-window Beetles). Most features are similar on both oval and split models, but the engine is slightly more powerful (30 hp instead of 25) on the oval-window cars.

- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
