The car is being auctioned on behalf of the owners estate. This 350 SL was probably imported as the date of first registration is 1985. The current owner bought the car in 1990 via his company "Lönns Bil" in Järbo. In 2001, the car was transferred to his wife and when she died in 2018, the car passed into the current owner's possession again.
The car does not have the original engine, but it does have a 450 engine that was replaced when the present owner purchased it in 1991. There are receipts for the engine's renovation, which are included with the car. The car has been repainted and comes with a hardtop.
For several years the car was used for holiday trips to Norway. Due to age and illness, the car has not been used much in the last five years. The Mercedes was inspected in October 2022, without remarks. The odometer reading is just over 237,000 km.

At the time of the photo, the car was not test driven on the road due to slippery road conditions and summer tyres. The engine runs and the gearbox shifts well. The engine was replaced in 1991 with a 450 engine.

Zustand Interieur
The interior is in useable condition with some wear, as shown in the photos. The backrest knob's cover is missing, as are the cover on the lower backrest hinge. There is a minor hole in the floor mat.

An old repaint with signs of wear and tear. The left-side rear glass of the convertible top is cracked. The rear window seam on the convertible is in poor condition (see image). Paint scrapes on the front bumper corner may be seen in the photos.

Mercedes R107 tillverkades mellan 1971 och 1989.
350 SL presenterades i Genève i april 1971. Den konstruerades vid en tidpunkt då skärpta säkerhetskrav från de amerikanska myndigheterna förväntades ta död på den öppna bilen. Men Mercedes konstruktörer byggde en så kraftig vagn att den klarade lagkraven. Bilen kallades internt "Der Panzerwagen" på grund av den kraftiga konstruktionen. Medaljens baksida var den höga vikten och det krävdes numera en V8-motor för att uppnå företrädaren 280 SL:s prestanda. I mars 1973 introducerades USA-motorn på den europeiska marknaden i 450 SL. Anledningen var ökade avgasreningskrav även här och Mercedes motorer hörde till dem som tappade mest effekt när de utrustades med dåtidens reningsteknik. I oljekrisens spår återkom den sexcylindriga 280 SL i juli 1974.
I mars 1980 introducerades nya V8:or från den nya S-klassen. I september 1985 gjordes den sista uppdateringen av R107 där bland annat 280 SL ersattes med 300 SL som fick en treliters sexcylindrig motor. I övrigt gjordes ett antal tekniska chassieuppdateringar som bland annat innebar 15" hjul och större bromsar.
107:an pensionerades slutligen 1989 efter en produktionscykel på 18 år och 237 287 stycken tillverkade bilar.

- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
