This exceptionally well-preserved, low-mileage 1988 Pontiac Trans Am GTA was imported from the U.S. as a new car in 1988. It has now been inherited by the son of the original owner, making him the car’s second owner. The vehicle is in outstanding, lightly used condition. Upon viewing, it gives the impression of being as close to new as one can expect from a nearly 40-year-old car.
It remains in original condition with no restorations or repainting. However, some repairs are needed—the air conditioning doesn’t work, possibly due to a non-functioning fan, and neither the radio nor the power antenna is currently working.
The odometer reads 41,940 km (approx. 26,060 miles), which aligns well with the car’s excellent overall condition. The Pontiac comes with a set of keys, but no service book.

In 1982, the Trans Am received a complete redesign, introducing a new look and a new fuel injection system called Cross-Fire Injection (used from 1982 to 1984). However, V8 power had dropped significantly—around 145 hp from a standard 305 engine. With the Cross-Fire system, output was 165 hp.
The 1982 Trans Am also gained pop culture fame, as the car used in the TV series Knight Rider (KITT) was based on the ’82 model.
In 1984, Pontiac produced 1,500 units of the Anniversary Trans Am.
In 1985, TPI (Tuned Port Injection) was introduced as an option, increasing the 5.0L V8's output to 205 hp.
By 1987, a 5.7L (350 cu in) V8 with Throttle Body Injection (TBI) became the major news, offering improved torque and drivability.
Horsepower steadily increased throughout the late ’80s. For the 1989 model year, the 5.7L TPI V8 could deliver up to 240 hp. That same year, a turbocharged V6 model was sold as a NASCAR Pace Car edition—produced in very limited numbers and now often valued far higher than the V8 version.
In 1991, Pontiac introduced the first convertible Trans Am since 1969. The front end was redesigned with a more rounded look, often said to resemble an eagle’s beak.

For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
