Beschreibung

Some cars are owned for a period of your life. Others become part of someone's history.

This 1950 Chevrolet Pickup has remained in the same family since 1999, when the current owner received it as an 18th birthday present. Even then, it was already a well-built custom truck that his father and the previous owner had invested a great deal of time and dedication into. Although the registered ownership has changed over the years, including through the Mittsverigebanan business, the truck has always remained within the family. When the owner moved to other parts of Sweden for studies and work, it was safely stored in a garage until he returned to northern Sweden and took it back.

For the owner, it was never about racing or burnouts, but about summer evenings, cruising, rock 'n' roll, and the joy of driving a classic American vehicle that turns heads and makes people smile. At the same time, it has never been treated as a museum piece. It has been used exactly as intended, for everything from road trips and car meets to picking up furniture and hauling loads to the recycling center.

Over the past few years, the pickup has undergone extensive mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment. The engine, drivetrain, and brakes have been serviced and rebuilt, and several components have been replaced, including a Volvo front suspension and an Opel steering box. The body has also received considerable attention, leaving the truck in even better condition than when the current owner first took possession of it.

The truck participated in Power Meet in 2000, where it was displayed in the popular "Pickis" class. As proof of its high quality and craftsmanship, it was awarded First Prize at the show. The trophy, shown in the photographs, is included with the truck and forms an important part of its history.

Under the hood is a Chevrolet 350 V8 paired with an automatic transmission with lock-up, a combination that makes the truck equally enjoyable on the open road and on the cruising strip. To complete the authentic period atmosphere, a CD changer loaded with 1950s music is mounted beneath the passenger seat and is included with the vehicle.

The truck was last inspected by the Swedish Motor Vehicle Inspection Company (Bilprovningen) in 1999 and has been registered as off the road since 2019.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch

The engine and drivetrain perform well. The truck is fitted with a new Edelbrock carburetor, and the ignition system has been rebuilt. According to the owner, all other mechanical systems and equipment are functioning as they should.

  • Zustand Interieur

Most of the interior has been restored and replaced. While much of it is not original equipment, it suits the truck very well. The dashboard, headliner, and carpeting are all in good condition. The interior door panel on the driver's door is slightly loose, as shown in the photographs.

  • Zustand Exterieur

The paintwork is generally in good condition, with a few age-related imperfections, including some cracks in the finish in a few areas—please refer to the photos. These do not detract from the truck's overall appearance. The underbody is also in clean, well-maintained condition.

  • Zustand gesamt

    A well-presented pickup in eye-catching condition.

Fakten zum Modell

The 1950 Chevrolet Pickup is one of the most beloved American classics of all time. It belongs to Chevrolet's Advance Design series, produced from 1947 to 1955, which became America's best-selling light-duty truck of the post-war era. With its rounded fenders, wide grille, and rugged styling, it perfectly embodies the optimism and confidence of 1950s America.

From the factory, the 1950 model was equipped with Chevrolet's 216 cu in (3.5-liter) Thriftmaster inline-six, paired with a three-speed manual transmission. The legendary Chevrolet small-block V8 was not introduced until 1955, meaning that virtually every 1950 Chevrolet pickup fitted with a V8 today has been converted.

This particular modification has become a classic upgrade in the United States, where many 1950 pickups have been fitted with 265, 283, 327, or—most commonly—the 350 cu in Chevrolet V8. The conversion combines the truck's timeless styling with significantly improved performance and drivability, making it one of the most popular and respected period-style upgrades for these iconic pickups.
