This Opel is a Hammarby build, and for those who are not familiar with the history, GM established an assembly plant in the Port of Hammarby (Stockholm) in 1927 where US cars, mainly Chevrolets but also Opels and some Vauxhall cars, were assembled.
This Rekord had one owner from 1955 until the mid-1980s. The car changed hands three times from the mid-1980s until 2013 when the current owner purchased it. At that time, the Opel was in a somewhat worn condition due to careless handling, with exterior damage and most of the chrome being destroyed. Approximately 12-14 years ago, the car underwent restoration when the current owner personally repainted it in one of GM's colors and had most of the chrome plating redone. The interior remains in untouched original condition. It is a very fine example of the Opel Olympia Rekord.

Fakten zum Modell
In 1953, Opel introduced its big news, namely the Opel Olympia Rekord. With its modern pontoon body, it was quite different from Opel's pre-war models. It served as the successor to the old Olympia, which had been around since 1935. The Olympia Rekord, with its streamlined GM lines inspired by American designs, was produced until 1957 and featured a four-cylinder inline engine and a three-speed manual transmission. The Olympia Rekord was available as a two-door sedan, station wagon, and convertible. In 1955, a minor facelift was done, incorporating a slightly larger rear window and a new grille. According to information from the Swedish Transport Agency, there are currently 310 registered Opel Olympia Rekord cars from 1953 to 1957 in Sweden, so you won't encounter many of the same models in summer traffic.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .

- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
