This car was registered at Bilia in Solna in November 1987. In January 1988, it was purchased by an enthusiastic owner who used it sparingly during the brighter seasons, always keeping it garaged and not driving it during the winter months. However, the car was always well-maintained, serviced, rustproofed, and cared for, as older men often did with their cars, especially Volvos, during that time. When he bought the car, he was particularly pleased that it was a version without a catalytic converter. He opted for a GLE model with extra chrome, alloy wheels, and exclusive plush upholstery, which has always been covered. He also selected additional equipment such as fog lights, an original "kjolpaket" (spoiler package), a rear bumper guard, and a rear window blind from Volvo, which were installed by Bilia from the beginning. Original protective floor mats were also included in the order.
A little over two years ago, the son took over the car and, like his father, has stored it in a garage. Now, it is being sold to a new owner who will have the privilege of owning this well-preserved original vehicle.
The car has recently been serviced, including a new timing belt, and it is equipped with newer Michelin tires. It comes with the owner's manual, service booklet, and factory data specifications from Volvo.

Zustand technisch
Starts easily and runs smoothly in terms of engine, gearbox, and chassis without any issues. There is occasionally a slight squeak inside the steering column when maneuvering. It has not been inspected on a lift, but pictures from the last inspection appear to show the underside to be in very good condition. There was some sticking when opening the hood, probably due to needing some adjustments or lubrication.

The front and back seats have always had covers and are almost in new condition. Even the door panels, carpets, headliner, etc. are in very good original condition.

In very nice and well-preserved original condition. The paint has some stone chips, minor scratches and a small dent. Easy to fix. Glass, chrome, wheels and tires in very good condition. The engine and luggage compartment are also in excellent condition.

Most of us have at some point owned, driven, ridden in, and/or have memories of a Volvo 740, a true Swedish classic. The new 700 series was launched in 1982, initially as a six-cylinder premium car. In 1984, the four-cylinder people's car, the Volvo 740, was introduced. The first version was the GLE with fuel injection and 129 horsepower. This was followed by the true volume model, the GL, with a carburetor and 112 horsepower.
For the 1988 model year, there were various equipment versions, and a GLT 16 Valve with higher power was introduced. The regular GLE version had 131 horsepower and was an equipment package with features such as extended chrome, alloy wheels, velvet upholstery, central locking, and more.
After years of hectic family life and hard work in professional traffic, the population of these workhorses is rapidly diminishing. For those that have been well cared for and survived, a new era begins as a enthusiast car.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
