Beschreibung
Beneath the surface, however, the car is far from original. The classic 302 engine has been transformed into a sharp 347 stroker with a completely new balanced stroker kit featuring, among other things, new pistons, connecting rods, and crankshaft. The engine has been built from the ground up with performance as the main focus. Edelbrock Performer RPM cylinder heads and an Edelbrock intake manifold are paired with an Edelbrock 750 carburetor, carefully tuned by Kent in Bålsta to work perfectly with the engine setup.
In addition, the car is equipped with an MSD ignition system, GT hood, power steering, and an aluminum radiator. The result is a machine delivering around 400 horsepower with both power and character. The drivetrain is complemented by a C4 automatic transmission and a new exhaust system that lets the engine speak with a deep, goosebump-inducing rumble.
At the same time, the car’s history remains intact. The engine that was installed when the Mustang first arrived in Sweden is included in parts, serving as a mechanical piece of its previous life in the United States — see photos. Whether this was the original factory-installed engine is unknown.
This is not just another imported American classic. It is a car with soul, built with respect for both history and driving pleasure.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand
-
Zustand technisch
Runs extremely well in both the engine and drivetrain. The car’s other systems also appear to function as they should. The trunk lid springs are weak and no longer able to hold the lid open.
-
Zustand Interieur
The interior is in good, well-used condition and has clearly been cared for over the years. There is a small tear on the back of the passenger seat, see photo, and the dashboard is cracked near the center speaker, see photo. Unusual overhead center console.
-
Zustand Exterieur
Paintwork with clear signs of age and patina that suit this Mustang perfectly. This is the kind of car you actually dare to use regardless of road conditions or weather. The brightwork is in usable condition with signs of wear. The underside appears to be in good condition.
-
Zustand gesamt
A road-ready Mustang from a highly desirable model year, presented in a very usable condition for summer meets and driving enjoyment. Wonderfully patinated character throughout.

Fakten zum Modell
On April 17, 1964, the creation was officially unveiled — although a massive advertising campaign had already begun the evening before — and one of the greatest success stories in automotive history was born. No fewer than 22,000 cars were sold on the very first day. Cars produced up until August 1964 later became known as the 1964½ model year, after which they were officially designated as 1965 models.
Initially, the Mustang was offered as both a Coupé and Convertible, while the 2+2 Fastback joined the lineup in 1965. Early engine options included a 170 cubic inch inline-six and V8s of 260 or 289 cubic inches. A variety of carburetor setups were available from the start, and virtually every kind of optional equipment could be ordered. The basic concept was a simple and affordable base model that buyers could personalize through a long list of options. No two cars were exactly alike, and aftermarket suppliers quickly emerged as well — especially for those seeking even more performance.
It did not take long before Mustangs began competing in motorsport, naturally first in the United States. But already in July 1964, the first four competition cars — the so-called TDF Mustangs — arrived in Europe to compete in the Tour de France circuit racing series. They immediately achieved victories and top placements in their class. One of the drivers was the Swedish racing legend Bosse Ljungfeldt from Ekerö. At the time, he was best known for his aggressive driving style and spectacular slides behind the wheel of the Ford Falcon Sprint, both on circuits and in rallying. The same became true with the Mustang — it was not limited to circuit racing alone.
In the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally, Bosse drove a red Ford Mustang with co-driver Fergus Sager. From there, the Mustang’s motorsport career expanded into circuit racing, rallying, and eventually drag racing as well.
Today, these wonderful Mustangs from the carefree 1960s can still be seen all over the world, continuing to compete in historic racing events and keeping the legend alive.
