Beschreibung
In 1956, the car was purchased by a colleague in the same trade, who had a tow hitch installed. According to available information, the vehicle was used during the 1960s by the artist Paul Piltz, who traveled around Värmland with a caravan, painting landscape motifs. These details—and much more—can be uncovered through historical registration research. Please refer to the accompanying photographs of the original registration documents.
Official records indicate that the car has had six owners, although a review of the historical paperwork suggests a somewhat higher number when motor dealers are included. What is certain is that the car passed a vehicle inspection in 1980 and was subsequently taken off the road in 1983.
A restoration was begun, but in July 2024 the car was sold through one of our auctions (see photograph). The buyer and current owner have since carried out an extensive restoration. Among the work completed are a body-off restoration, body repairs with new front fenders, and a full repaint. The front suspension, braking system, and other mechanical components have also been refurbished.
The original engine was beyond repair and was replaced with a correct-type B4B engine. The car has been fitted with numerous new chrome components, trim pieces, and a completely new interior. It is equipped with period-correct accessories including fog lamps, a sun visor, exterior mirrors, and a functioning radio.
The vehicle has been inspected, approved for road use, and is ready to be enjoyed.
Teknische Daten
Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand
-
Zustand technisch
The car started easily, and the engine ran smoothly. During a short test drive, the steering, clutch, gearbox, and brakes all appeared to function well. Towards the end of the drive, the vehicle became slightly temperamental, but this is likely due to the running-in process or minor adjustments that may still need attention following the restoration.
The vehicle was not inspected on a lift during this assessment. However, as it has undergone a body-off restoration and extensive work to the chassis and underbody, everything appears to be in very good condition underneath. -
Zustand Interieur
The entire interior has been restored in a period-correct style. New upholstery, textiles, and vinyl trim have been fitted, resulting in an attractive presentation with excellent attention to detail throughout. The luggage compartment is also well-finished and offers practical storage space.
-
Zustand Exterieur
Recently repainted and presented in excellent condition, with attractive chrome trim, glass, moldings, lighting details, and period-correct accessories. The wheels are in fine condition and fitted with hubcaps and trim rings, along with new tires. The engine bay is also clean, tidy, and well-presented.

Zustand gesamt
A loyal Swedish workhorse—indeed, a true Värmland veteran—and a vehicle of considerable historical significance. Believed to be the oldest surviving roadworthy example of its kind, it represents an important piece of Swedish motoring heritage and is now ready to continue its journey on the road.

Fakten zum Modell
The civilian Duett largely followed the development of the PV 444 and later the PV 544. From the 1961 model year onward, it received the designation P210 and effectively became a model in its own right, eventually outliving the PV 544. In 1962, Volvo introduced the Amazon estate, but demand remained strong for the Duett thanks to its greater load capacity, higher roofline, and practical design. It became a familiar sight in service with organizations such as the police, the Swedish Telecommunications Administration, and the postal service.
The Duett and Amazon estate were produced alongside one another until 1969. The final Duett rolled off the production line on 11 February 1969. When the 1970s arrived, the Amazon would also reach the end of its production life.
Even during its production years, the Duett's separate chassis-frame construction made it a popular platform for custom conversions. Cabriolet versions were built by specialist coachbuilders, and in later decades the model became a favorite foundation for both EPA tractors and hot rods, further cementing its place in Swedish automotive culture.
