Chevrolet Drag / Streetracing — 1955

An old-school drag racer/street racer that has been seen on various drag strips over the years. It’s also been spotted on the street, traveling to and from races—sometimes even towing a caravan. The car has participated in several drag races, including events with the SVDA (Scandinavian Vintage Dragrace Association).

Beschreibung

This car started life as a four-door hardtop, but Örjan Molin dreamed of owning a two-door coupe. Since they were too expensive to buy at the time, he came up with a creative solution. Using what he had and tweaking the formula a bit, he built something more to his taste — the result was a two-door coupe. The conversion took place in the late 1970s, at which point the car had a flip front end and a Chevrolet 396/425HP Big Block, running the ¼ mile in 11.41 seconds.

It was rebuilt, repainted, and completed again about 15 years ago. To pass inspection, a Chevrolet 350 Small Block was installed, featuring aluminum heads (an empty Edelbrock box suggests the brand), aluminum intake, Holley carburetor, headers, Accel ignition, and a slightly hotter camshaft.
A new Borg Warner T10 four-speed transmission with a new Hurst shifter was fitted, along with a limited-slip 9" Ford rear end with 4.11 gearing. Drum brakes are fitted all around. Power steering and a line lock are installed.

The car is now exempt from inspection under current regulations.
Four older slicks on rims are included in the sale. A rear seat is available, but it’s uncertain whether it can be installed with the roll cage in place.

  • Zustand technisch

    The Chevy is drivable but would benefit from some tuning to get the engine running at its best.

  • Zustand Interieur

    Not much more to say—see the photos. We haven’t had the opportunity to check all functions and gauges during the brief test drive. The heater unit is missing.

  • Zustand Exterieur

    There are some scratches and scuff marks/damage, particularly on the right front corner, as well as a few scrapes along the right side of the body from an unfortunate encounter with a door frame.

  • Zustand gesamt

    A wonderfully worn condition that tells the story of its past. This is a car that has lived a rich life as a race car. Keep it just the way it is—and keep driving it.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
  • At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
  • During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
  • Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
  • When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
  • If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
  • If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
  • Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
  • For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
