This car was purchased by the current owner in July 2019 but has not received much attention due to a large vehicle collection. It was permanently inspected and approved in 2020, but has been sitting unused for several years. A startup service may be needed.
There is rust on the upper part of the left front fender and on the surface near the windshield, but otherwise, the paint is in decent condition, with some minor blemishes. The undercarriage has not been inspected, but from what can be seen, it appears to be in good shape. The car has not been driven since its 2020 inspection.

Zustand technisch
The engine runs smoothly, and the gears shift well. The clutch has been replaced. Most technical functions are in working order, though some bulbs need replacing. The gear selector feels slightly soft, but new tires have been fitted on black-painted wheels.

The interior is in decent condition but could definitely be refined. The driver’s seat shows wear, but the rest of the upholstery is intact, though it could use a cleaning. There is some sun fading on the top of the rear seatback. The door panels are in functional condition, and there is a small crack on the dashboard above the instrument cluster.

Fakten zum Modell
After the success of the Type 1, Volkswagen sought to expand its model lineup with a slightly larger vehicle. The basic design with an air-cooled boxer engine mounted in the rear was retained, but the Type 3 offered more interior space and greater comfort.
Like the Type 1, the car was built on a separate floor pan onto which the body was mounted, and the suspension used torsion bars. The 1.5-liter engine, which was also available in the Type 1, was redesigned to have a lower profile (known as the "pancake engine"), achieved by relocating the cooling fan. This modification allowed for a small luggage compartment above the engine, whereas the Type 1 only had a storage space behind the rear seatback.
Unlike the Type 1, the engine and rear suspension were mounted on a subframe, which was connected to the body with rubber bushings. This reduced vibrations and improved ride comfort.
The Volkswagen 1500 Limousine, model year 1962, was introduced in August 1961. The Type 31 featured:
1,493 cm³, 4-cylinder boxer engine
45 hp at 3,800 rpm
Single carburetor
Front and rear luggage compartments, both accessible from the outside

- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
