Beschreibung
The couple lived in Switzerland until 2022, which is why the car has been registered in Sweden twice. It was primarily used during the summer months and for long trips from Switzerland to their summer home in Östergötland. Towards the end of its time in Switzerland, studded-free winter tires were fitted.
The car appears to be in fine original condition, but during an inspection, the battery was not sufficiently charged, likely causing the vehicle to enter "rest mode." As a result, the convertible top did not lower—the motors engaged but then shut off. However, the starter battery was functional, allowing the car to be driven without issues.
Included with the car are:
Owner’s manuals
Two keys
Various inspection records and paperwork
The car is inspected and ready to drive.

Zustand technisch
Starts easily and runs smoothly in both engine and drivetrain. A test drive at a relaxed pace in a residential and urban setting felt comfortable and stable.
Steering, automatic transmission, handling, and brakes all functioned well, providing a pleasant and secure driving experience.
The car has not been inspected on a lift, but everything visible appeared to be in good condition, and the vehicle inspection reported no issues. -
Zustand Interieur
A neat and elegant interior in gray-blue with wood accents provides an exclusive feel. The seats offer excellent comfort, while the door panels, dashboard, headliner, and textile carpets are in fine condition, complemented by custom-molded protective mats.
Everything appears to function as intended, but a review of the heating, ventilation, and ACC (Automatic Climate Control) is recommended. -
Zustand Exterieur
The paintwork is glossy and in good condition, with only minor signs of use. There is a small "garage scrape" near the headlight/fender on the passenger side, but otherwise, the car is in fine shape considering its age and mileage.
The wheels and tires are in good condition, as are the engine and trunk compartments.
The battery will likely need replacing, but the starter battery is functioning. -
Zustand gesamt
A solid and exclusive quality car from Mercedes, which has been stored in a garage for a few years and now requires some detail work and a thorough inspection.
This is undoubtedly a future classic and enthusiast car, with great potential as a collectible vehicle in the years to come.

Fakten zum Modell
What we do know is that the 300 SL "Gullwing" racer debuted in 1952 and was later produced as a more refined road version from 1954 to 1957. When the Gullwing disappeared, Mercedes introduced an open-top Roadster version from 1957 to 1963, retaining the same performance and styling cues.
Alongside the 300 SL Roadster, Mercedes also produced a more restrained and comfortable SL, the R121 Mercedes 190 SL, built from 1955 to 1963. When it came time for their successors, Mercedes combined both concepts into a single model, the W113 Mercedes 230 SL, known as the Pagoda. Over time, it evolved into the 250 SL and 280 SL versions, produced between 1963 and 1971.
In April 1971, the Pagoda was succeeded by the R107 Mercedes 350 SL, powered by a 3.5L V8 producing 200 hp. Compared to its predecessor, the new model featured significantly improved safety, technology, and handling. With only minor changes over the years, the R107 remained in production until 1989, when it was replaced by the next-generation R129.
The R129 SL was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1988 and entered production in May that year. The design, credited to Bruno Sacco, marked a technological leap forward. The first model year was 1989, and production continued until 2002, when it was succeeded by the R230 SL (which technically began production in 2001).
The R230 SL debuted at the Frankfurt and Bologna Motor Shows in 2001, again designed by Bruno Sacco, now assisted by Steve Mattin. Its first public appearance was as a Safety Car at the 2001 German Grand Prix in Hockenheim.
The R230 was the first Mercedes SL to feature a retractable hardtop, marking a significant leap in technology and luxury. It shared advanced features with the S-Class and CL-Class, while also incorporating design elements that paid homage to the classic Gullwing.
A facelift arrived in 2006, bringing increased engine performance and further refinements. Over the years, the R230 SL was offered in various versions, including:
SL 350
SL 500
SL 55 AMG
SL 600
SL 65 AMG, featuring a 604 hp V12 biturbo
The SL 500 initially featured a 306 hp V8 with fuel injection, evolving over the years.
Production of the R230 SL continued until 2011, when it was replaced by the R231 SL. In total, 169,433 units of the R230 were produced.
