Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand
-
Zustand technisch
Starts easily and runs smoothly. During a test drive at a calm pace on residential streets and 70 km/h roads, everything appeared to function well, including steering, the automatic transmission, suspension components, and brakes.
An inspection was carried out to identify necessary repairs, which were then completed, and the car subsequently passed the follow-up inspection. It has not been checked on a lift, but from what was visible, the essential components appeared to be in good condition. No comments were noted regarding the undercarriage in the latest vehicle inspection. -
Zustand Interieur
Comfortable original interior with normal wear from use. The steering wheel, controls, and electrical functions are in good condition. The climate control (ACC) cools properly.
Features include:
Power-folding side mirrors with lighting
Power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function
Integrated rear child seats
HU-803 audio system with Dolby 7.1, original subwoofer in the trunk, and 10-disc CD changer
Bluetooth with hands-free calling
Integrated phone (SIM card not currently inserted)
Navigation system with remote control (functionality uncertain)
Everything functions well unless otherwise noted. -
Zustand Exterieur
The original paint appears shiny and well-maintained, with wear consistent with the car's age and mileage. The front spoiler has damage on the lower center section, and there are small rust bubbles on the left front wheel arch and the lower edge of the left rear door.
Glass, trim, and lighting components are in good condition. The wheels show scratches and scuffs, but the car has newer tires. Both the engine bay and luggage compartment are in good shape, and the spare wheel is included. -
Zustand gesamt
The car is now in good technical condition, but there are still some details that could be refined and improved. With its high-performance specification and sought-after color combination, it stands out as a future classic with collector potential.

Fakten zum Modell
It was a massive investment at the time, estimated at 16 billion SEK, by the time the model was completed and presented in 1991. While Volvo maintained its core values of quality and safety, the brand moved upmarket toward the premium segment and developed a significantly more modern and sporty image.
The journey began as early as 1978, when PG Gyllenhammar initiated Project Galaxy. Designed by Jan Wilsgaard, the 850 was finally unveiled at Globen in Stockholm on June 11, 1991, leaving the entire automotive world in awe. Between 1992 and 1996, new variants were continuously introduced. Initially available as a four-door sedan, Volvo later followed its tradition by launching a five-door station wagon in 1993. They even took that wagon racing, boosting the brand’s public relations and market repositioning. Volvo successfully balanced its appeal—calm, reliable versions retained traditional customers, while turbocharged, all-wheel-drive models with bold colors and premium interiors attracted a new audience.
The 850 T-5R, initially known as the T-Gul, was produced in 1994 and 1995. It was Volvo’s fastest, most powerful, and most expensive car ever at the time. The launch models were painted in bright yellow, hence the name, but additional colors were introduced later in production.
For model year 1996, Volvo once again released its fastest and most expensive car to date—the Volvo 850 R. The chassis was refined by TWR, and new components improved ride comfort. The front end was equipped with an upgraded intercooler, a new exhaust manifold, and a larger turbocharger, increasing output by 10 hp over the T-5R. At launch, the new red color was introduced, quickly earning the nickname T-Röd, though other colors were available as well.
For model year 1997, the 850 received a facelift and a name change, becoming the S70 (sedan) and V70 (wagon). Once again, a performance-oriented "R" model was introduced, produced in various versions from 1997 to 2000.
After a few years' hiatus, Volvo’s high-performance flagship made a comeback with the V70 R AWD for model year 2004. It now delivered 300 hp and 400 Nm of torque, with a six-speed manual transmission or a five- or six-speed automatic. Haldex supplied the all-wheel-drive system. A major innovation was the Four-C active chassis, allowing the driver to adjust suspension settings.
Inside, the V70 R AWD featured blue instrument dials, sculpted sport seats, and a three-spoke sports steering wheel. Externally, it had a unique grille and front spoiler, Pegasus wheels with an engraved "R," and Brembo brakes. The Flash Green color was introduced specifically for this model, alongside other special paint options and unique interior combinations.
A total of 6,090 units of the V70 R AWD were produced between 2004 and 2007.
