Beschreibung
The current owner acquired it in January 2023. He runs a detailing company and has applied ceramic coating to the paintwork as well as carried out a thorough inspection and service of the car. He has driven it sparingly, mainly as a cruiser and to a few meets, where it has always attracted attention.
The first owner in the USA ordered it fully equipped with the luxury of its era, along with a high-performance 389 cui with Sixpack, delivering 348 hp. A 3-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission handles the shifting. Dual exhaust system. Power steering and power brakes. Special eight-lug wheels. Bucket seats and center console with tachometer, among other features. Reportedly repainted in the USA many years ago.
A garage cover is included with the car.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand
-
Zustand technisch
Starts easily and runs smoothly in both engine and drivetrain. During a short suburban test drive, everything felt as it should, and the steering, automatic transmission, brakes, etc. worked well. When accelerating, the power was clearly there. After the steering box was replaced, the wheel alignment still needs final adjustment, as the steering wheel sat slightly off-center. When the current owner went to replace the air filter, he was only able to source two new ones.
Not inspected on a lift, but from what could be seen, the vital components appeared to be in good condition. -
Zustand Interieur
Complete and well-preserved interior in the upscale version of its era. Door panels, trim, headliner, and carpets are in fine condition. Extra protective mats with the Pontiac logo. Steering wheel, controls, instruments, dashboard, and gauges are all in good condition. All electrical functions and gauges work properly. The AC is functional but requires a recharge once a year.
-
Zustand Exterieur
Straight and solid bodywork with glossy, equally fine paint. There are a few small paint bubbles at the rear edge of the right wheel arch. Chrome, trim, glass, emblems, and lighting details are in good condition. Wheels and tires also in fine shape.

Zustand gesamt
After the fin explosion of the late ’50s came the somewhat more restrained yet elegantly beautiful cars of the early ’60s. At this point, American manufacturers were beginning to approach European premium cars both in terms of equipment and performance. The 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix is one of the more sleekly styled and well-proportioned cars from this era. Its design, condition, and performance therefore make this car an appealing and fine classic, as well as an enthusiast’s vehicle.

Fakten zum Modell
In the late ’50s, Pontiac began to profile itself as a performance-oriented brand, starting with the Bonneville in 1957. This was later followed by the GTO and the Firebird. For the 1964 model year, they dropped a 389 engine from the larger Bonneville into the smaller Le Mans/Tempest body and called the package GTO—an event often seen as the starting point of the muscle car era.
The Grand Prix model was introduced for the 1962 model year as a “full-size personal luxury car” in coupe form—a luxurious car with all the extras, intended to challenge European premium cars on home soil. It came equipped with the substantial 6.4-liter 389 cui engine, often paired with a 3-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, though 3- and 4-speed manuals were also available. The Pontiac Grand Prix, in various forms, remained in production all the way until 2008.
