Beschreibung
The current owner intended to service the motorcycle and start riding it, which is why he fitted a new rear tire, a new battery, and acquired service parts. Due to lack of time, he is now offering the Ducati for sale and will instead devote more time to his other vintage vehicles.
Included with the motorcycle are the original exhaust system, 2 ignition keys, some documentation, as well as timing belts and an oil filter for servicing.
This is a remote auction. The photos and information about the vehicle and its technical condition have been provided by the owner. BWA has therefore not inspected the vehicle on site at the seller's location.
PS! The motorcycle is registered and only needs a standard inspection after it has been serviced and started up; the license plate simply has not been mounted during the time it stood as a work of art.

Zustand technisch
4-stroke 90° L-twin, 748 cc, liquid-cooled, six-speed. Produces approximately 97 hp at 11,000 rpm.
The engine needs a start-up service before being run. It has not been started since 2016. New genuine Ducati cam belts and oil filter are included. New starter battery fitted in 2026. The original exhaust system is included separately. -
Zustand Exterieur
Clean and tidy. There are minor scuffs on the paintwork from the rider's leathers, as well as the occasional stone chip. On the lower front edge of the fairing, just behind the front wheel, there are traces of gravel spray. The rear tire was fitted new in 2026, the front tire has good tread and is approximately 10-12 years old. Both tires are Michelin.

Zustand gesamt
A handsome motorcycle that will qualify for classic vehicle status in 2028, under today's classic vehicle rules. You could continue to keep it as a work of art in the office or living room. If you want to get out and ride, it will need to be serviced and inspected. Both options hold an inherent appeal.

Fakten zum Modell
While the Ducati 916 focused on powerful midrange torque, the 748 was built to rev. The engine was a 748cc liquid-cooled 90° L-twin with Desmodromic valve actuation and 4 valves per cylinder. The stroke was shorter than on the 916, which pushed the redline all the way up to 11,500 rpm. Output ranged between 87 and 106 horsepower depending on model year and specification. Many riders and track-day enthusiasts actually considered the 748 easier to ride and more rewarding than the 916. The narrower profile of the rear tire (180-section instead of the 916's 190) gave the motorcycle noticeably quicker and more precise turn-in through corners.
RACING HISTORY.
The Ducati 748 was developed with a clear purpose: to dominate the newly established Supersport World Series (which later became the Supersport World Championship / WSS). Since the rules limited four-cylinder machines to a maximum of 600cc, twin-cylinder machines (like the Ducati) were allowed up to 748cc. Ducati enjoyed enormous success on the track with riders such as Fabrizio Pirovano (who won the championship in 1998 on a 748) and Paolo Casoli. The model filled starting grids around the world and cemented Ducati's status as king of the hill in middleweight racing in the late 90s.
