The current owner’s father in law bought the Mercedes back in 1975. Since he didn’t consider himself competent to work on such a fine car, he entrusted it from day one to the same authorized family workshop, which kept track of the car’s condition — whether it needed attention or not. According to him, the workshop saw it as their duty to look after the Mercedes.
That relationship continues to this day — now between the current owner, who inherited the car, and the sons of the original workshop owner, who have carried on the tradition.
Most recently, in September, the entire braking system received an overhaul, with parts replaced where necessary. The car is garage-kept and seldom used during winter or in wet weather. Some documentation, including the original owner’s manual, is included. The car was inspected and approved by the Swedish vehicle inspection authority in 2017 and is therefore ready to drive.

Zustand technisch
Runs well in both engine and drivetrain. The braking system functions as it should. According to the owner, all other equipment also works properly — except for the radio and the clock.

The interior is in nicely patinated condition (see photos). The wood panels show some cracking in the clear coat (see photos), and the headliner is slightly discolored around the rear window.

The paintwork is generally in good condition, with a few minor blemishes (see photos). Some rust is visible, mainly around the rear wheel arches. The chrome trim is in good shape, though there are a few small dents on the rear bumper. The left taillight lens is cracked (see photo). The car has been treated with underbody protection.

The Mercedes is in good, usable condition. The body is straight with even panel gaps. The paintwork is glossy and attractive, though it shows some minor marks and imperfections (see photos). The chrome details remain shiny and largely undamaged, with only slight signs of age and use.

Fakten zum Modell
The W111 was introduced in August 1959 in three versions, each with different trim levels and variations of the well-known 2.2-liter inline-six engine. The body, shared with the four-cylinder W110, featured panoramic windows and tailfins — a design that had been all the rage in the U.S. during the 1950s but soon came to feel somewhat dated. As a result, its successor, the W108, was unveiled already in August 1965.
However, Mercedes-Benz didn’t abandon the W111 body just yet. In July 1965, the 230 S was introduced as an entry-level model to the S-Class lineup. Production continued until January 1968.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
