This Volvo 745 GLE was purchased at auction in 2024 and has an unusual background. The current owner is the car's second keeper. The first owner worked at NASA and lived in Los Angeles, USA. She ordered the car through Volvo Diplomat Sales and was particular about getting a 745 GLE with a manual gearbox and overdrive. It turned out to take a few months to source the car, as an automatic gearbox was the most common choice on the American market.
In 2002, she moved back to Sweden and brought her Volvo with her. When the current owner took over the car, it was in need of some mechanical work. With the help of an experienced Volvo mechanic, the car has since received extensive care and several major jobs have been carried out. The brake system has been completely overhauled, the front ball joints and shock absorbers have been replaced, and both fuel pumps are new. The engine has been serviced with a new timing belt and tensioner, water pump, and thermostat. The front exhaust pipe, catalytic converter, and oxygen sensor have also been replaced. In addition, the car has received a new headliner, and the speedometer has been changed from miles to kilometers. The original miles odometer remains and is included.
The work is documented with receipts and inspection records in a binder that accompanies the car. With an odometer reading of approximately 165,000 km, the car is in good condition for its age. The body has remained well preserved from more serious rust, the paint has some blemishes, and there is minor damage by the right rear door. The car is newly inspected with no remarks.

Zustand technisch
Runs well in the engine and drivetrain. The brakes work well without pulling to one side. The power windows, door mirrors, and sunroof work, but the AC does not. The car has good wheels.

Zustand Interieur
The interior is complete with fine seats and good carpets. The California sun has caused the top of the dashboard to crack. The headliner fabric has been replaced but did not turn out 100% right, see pictures. The instrumentation and gauges work and the radio is included, see the pictures for details.

The body is straight except for a small dent on the passenger side (at the rear by the wheel well). The car has been well spared from serious rust problems. The undercarriage appears to be in OK condition with some surface rust in places. The paint is 50% original and 50% spray-painted, which could possibly be wet-sanded and polished to improve it somewhat.

This is a sought-after Volvo model, a manual/overdrive 740 GLE with American square headlights that has held up well against rust, with relatively low mileage, but it needs some cosmetic attention with work that can be done over time.

Fakten zum Modell
The 700 series was introduced with Volvo's new luxury car, the 760, which was launched in February 1982. In 1984, the simpler and more affordable sister model, the Volvo 740, arrived and was built until 1992. First came a GLE version with fuel injection and 130 hp. Then came the true volume model, the GL with a carburetor and 112 hp. The 740 Turbo was offered with the same turbo engine as the 760 Turbo. The Volvo 740 was at times nicknamed "Sossecontainer" because it was a car commonly owned by the working class.

- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
