This PV 544 Special 1, model year 1958, has been owned by the current owner since 2019. When he took over the car, he upgraded it with a 4-speed M4 gearbox, a electronic 123 ignition system, and front disc brakes. He painted the rims and mounted new tires. The car also received a new headliner, new fabric strips around the doors, and a new parcel shelf. The PV also got the correct original seats, rear seat, and door panels, all in good used condition. A new fuel tank and fuel sender unit were purchased due to debris/rust in the old one. The PV also underwent rust protection treatment. The previous owner had not done anything to the car, but it was already rust-repaired and repainted at that time. When this was done is unknown. The current owner has mostly used the car for leisure drives on weekends and for transport to various events. Ready to drive and MOT exempt in a nice used condition.

The car starts easily, and the engine and drivetrain function as they should. Equipped with an M4 gearbox and front disc brakes. electronic ignition system. The brakes engage smoothly and evenly. The Speedometer does not work.

Zustand Interieur
The PV now has original seats, rear seat, and door panels. These are in used condition with stains and some minor damage, see pictures. The headliner has also been replaced and is in good condition, though the fabric around the rear window needs adjustment. The sealing strips are dry and slightly cracked, see pictures. The chrome trim on the right front fender needs adjustment, see picture.

The Volvo PV 544 A began production in 1958, but it wasn’t hard to recognize the shape from its predecessor, the PV 444 – even though the larger windows and taillights somewhat changed its character. Inside, there were plenty of new features, including an instrument panel almost identical to that of the Amazon, a hanging accelerator pedal, and a handbrake between the front seats.
The Volvo PV 544 A, manufactured between 1958 and 1960, was available in Standard, Special I, Special II, and Sport versions. The simplest version was the Standard with a B16A engine and a three-speed gearbox. It wasn’t until August 1960 that the B model was introduced, featuring fully synchronized gearboxes as the biggest new feature.

- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. - During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
