"A Spider with its Twin-cam engine, here in 2.0L, is always a pleasant acquaintance. Rooted in the 1960s but with gradual upgrades into the 1980s. The car is largely in original condition and roadworthy with normal wear and tear for its age."

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The car starts and runs well in both the engine and drivetrain, with good brakes. In recent years, the car hasn't been driven much but has been regularly started up. Last year, it received new rear wheel bearings, a stronger starter motor, and a new direct feed (with the original cable untouched). The carburetors were also cleaned with new gaskets installed. Underneath, the vital parts seem to be in decent condition, as confirmed by inspections. However, there are signs of rust, especially in the front part of the frame boxes, which should be inspected more closely. A car that has been driven sparingly may require some maintenance and attention.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is intact and in good condition, featuring leather seats and fabric mats. There is some wear and tear on the instrument panel and door panels, indicating areas that may need attention. Speakers have been installed on the parcel shelf in the rear. There's a newer Pioneer stereo installed. All electrical components appear to be working, but due to the car's limited use in recent years, it's advisable to check connectors and connections. The tachometer has been refurbished with new electronics.

  • Exterior condition:

The exterior maintains a consistent and used level. It appears to have original paintwork in good condition but with small dents, scratches, scrapes, blemishes, and stone chips. On the driver's side under the bumper at the front spoiler, there is a repair. The glossy finish is in good condition but with small pores, particularly on the headlight surrounds. There are some damages to the bumper and signs of aging. The wheels and hubcaps are in good condition, and the Continental tires have good tread depth, although their age is uncertain. The engine and trunk compartments are in the same condition, good but used. There's a newer windshield with a protective film that has come loose in some areas and is slightly scratched, but it can be removed. The convertible top and frame are tight and function well, with a nice plastic rear window.

  • General condition:

A drivable 40-year-old car that can be used as is, driven and gradually fixed up, or upgraded over time. Regardless of the choice, you get a delightful sports car from Alfa Romeo that brings driving pleasure and gives you that wind-in-your-hair feeling. It's a wonderful summer and enthusiast car with classic status.

Facts about the model

Alfa Romeo is indeed a classic Italian car manufacturer, founded in Milan in 1910. Today, they have their headquarters in Turin and are part of the Stellantis group.

The brand has had a colorful history over the years, but despite this, they have introduced numerous classic cars, especially with sporty ambitions and attributes.

The Spider model, a convertible, was based on the Giulia 105 and later 115 models with Pininfarina design, featuring a classic setup for a European sports car - front engine and rear-wheel drive. The model became one of the longest-produced convertibles, with model years spanning from 1966 to 1993, with the last cars actually receiving the model year designation of 1994. The first Serie 1 version gained much attention when driven by Dustin Hoffman in the 1967 film "The Graduate." Serie 1 had the characteristic plastic domes over the headlights and a rounded rear end. From the beginning, it received various epithets, as cherished children often do. It was called the Duetto, Osso di Seppia, and Roundtail.

In 1970, Serie II was introduced with a more angular rear end but retaining the same front. For the 1983 model year and Serie III, it received a redesigned front and rear end, now with a rubber spoiler. This version lasted until the 1990 model year when a final facelift, Serie IV, was introduced with a redesigned front and a new rear end without the rubber lip.

In addition to these updates, there were various versions with engines ranging from 1,290 cc to 1,962 cc. A total of 124,104 units of the Alfa Romeo Spider with rear-wheel drive were manufactured between 1966 and 1993.
