"A great machine in good used condition that runs well and is ready to ride, inspected until 2027-12-31."

Description

The motorcycle was collected new by the current owner from Oves Motor in Olofström in 2004. He had ordered his dream machine and purchased all the original equipment BMW could offer at the time. This includes BMW panniers with a top box, engine guards, GPS, heated grips, ABS, and more.

The bike was used extensively up until 2014 and has since only been ridden a few miles each season. The owner feels it’s not being used enough and now wants someone else to enjoy it.

The bike runs excellently and operates flawlessly. It was regularly serviced at a workshop up until 2021; since then, the owner has carried out the servicing himself, as it has only been ridden a few miles per year.

  • Exterior condition

Original paint with a few signs of use, nice panniers and engine guards. Good off-road tires on the original wheels.

  • General condition

A road-ready and comfortable bike that’s just as suited to gravel roads as it is to the highway.

Facts about the model

The BMW R 1150 GS is a key model in BMW’s GS history (“Gelände/Straße” = off-road/road), and it has also played a significant role in Sweden among long-distance and adventure riders.
It was introduced in 1999 as the successor to the BMW R 1100 GS and was produced until 2004 (with the Adventure version continuing until around 2005–06). It was later replaced by the BMW R 1200 GS. The model is part of BMW’s GS series, which began back in 1980 and has become one of the world’s most iconic adventure motorcycle lineups.
Compared to its predecessor, several key improvements were introduced:

Larger engine: 1130 cc boxer engine

6-speed gearbox (previously 5-speed)

Shaft drive (a typical BMW feature)

Improved touring and off-road capability

Later updates around 2002 included:

Servo-assisted ABS

Twin-spark ignition for smoother running

The BMW R 1150 GS Adventure, introduced in 2001, was a more extreme version:

Larger fuel tank (~30 liters)

Longer suspension travel and better off-road capability

Lower first gear for difficult terrain

It became especially popular among long-distance travelers.
