"The car runs smoothly and handles well on the road. It makes a good impression both inside and out, aside from a couple of minor blemishes."

Description

Lennart Henjer in Karlshamn was a skilled mechanic and a true car enthusiast. He had a fine collection of cars and motorcycles that he took great care of. Sadly, he passed away in 2024, and now parts of his collection are being sold.
This MGB was imported to Sweden in 1990 by an owner in Stockholm, who later sold it to a man in Karlshamn. Lennart bought the car from him in the autumn of 1990. It was in need of restoration, so he began the work right away. Since the restoration was completed, the car has been driven sparingly during the summer months and has been very well maintained.

Facts about the model

In the late 1950s, the project was launched to develop the MGB as the successor to the MGA. In September 1962, the new roadster was unveiled and received positive reactions from both the motoring press and buyers. The 1798 cc engine with twin SU carburetors provided solid performance. The gearbox was a four-speed, but for a modest extra cost, buyers could opt for an electric overdrive.

From 1965, improvements included a five-bearing crankshaft, an oil cooler as standard, and an electric tachometer. Two years later, a six-cylinder engine was also fitted into the small car, available both as a roadster and with a fixed roof. For the 1970 models, the radiator design was updated, and Rostyle alloy wheels replaced the steel wheels, though wire wheels were always available as an option. The model even went on to be fitted with a Rover V8 engine.

Production continued until 1981. Later versions were produced, and today it is still possible to essentially build a new car from scratch, with everything from brand-new body shells to the smallest spare parts available. The MGB is a beloved and cherished model that truly never goes out of style.
