Description
One of the major changes is that the original engine has been replaced with a B20 engine, combined with a four-speed gearbox. The engine has been fitted with electronic ignition and the car has been converted to a 12-volt electrical system. The cooling system has also been updated with a new radiator, and a new fuel tank with matching fuel level sender has been installed.
The brake system has been gone through. Disc brakes are fitted at the front. Brake calipers, brake pads, and brake hoses are all new. The front and rear wheel bearings are also new, and the master brake cylinder has been replaced.
Comfort has also received attention. The car has been fitted with insulation and sound-deadening material, both front and rear. The headliner and floor mats are new, and several rubber seals have been replaced, including around the rear window, trunk lid, side windows, and windshield panes. The windshield panes are also new.
The interior has been supplemented with a new stereo and four new speakers, as well as a new package tray in gray cardboard. New gray cardboard kick panels for the right and left sides are also included. The interior work is not fully completed, which can be seen in the photos.
On the wheel side, new 5.5-inch wheels with winter tires are fitted, while the car's original wheels with summer tires and original hubcaps are included for those who wish to use the car's more period-correct configuration.
According to the owner, all gauges are working, and the electric two-speed windshield wipers are also functional. The fan system, defroster, and heater work as well.
This is thus a classic Volvo that has received a large number of technical and comfort-related updates over the years. For the new owner, a car awaits where much has already been done, from the B20 engine and four-speed gearbox to a complete brake overhaul, 12 volts, improved sound insulation, and newer details in the interior. A car with clear classic Volvo character, but with practical improvements for a more user-friendly ownership experience.
