Description
It was delivered to its first owner in Hörby in September 1968. He in turn traded in the 02 at the Mercedes dealer in Hörby in 1989, where they kept it until 1997, when the current owner's friend from the 02 club drove past and saw the car standing outside that same dealer. The current owner is one of the leading figures in the Swedish BMW 02 club (which later merged into the larger BMW club). His first car was exactly the same as this example, and he eventually took over the car from his friend. The most recent passed inspection was carried out

Mechanical condition
The engine is untouched with careful servicing over the years. The differential originally had a so-called long neck, which was a flawed design. It was later replaced during the model cycle with a differential identified by a short neck. This car has received the later version together with new control arms
The brakes are new, along with bushings in the front and rear suspension. A new single-circuit master cylinder proved to be a challenge to find, but it was eventually located, and it was in Sweden. -
Interior condition
Untouched original interior in well-preserved condition. Period accessories in the form of an original sport steering wheel and wooden gear shift knob. The original equipment remains and is included.

Exterior condition
Untouched original paint in fine condition on the trunk lid and roof. The rest has been repainted with a very successful result in terms of finish and color matching. Original steel wheels with fine hubcaps and newer Laufen tires, that is, Hankook.

Early, well-maintained, and well-preserved. A well-known car in Sweden on the 02 scene, and many are aware of its qualities.

Facts about the model
The model was shown for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show on March 7, 1966 as the 1600-2 (later renamed 1602), where the two in the name indicated that it was a two-door version based on the larger "Neue Klasse" platform. The model was smaller, lighter, and more aerodynamic than its predecessors, which quickly made it a favorite among both car buyers and the motoring press. The real breakthrough came in 1968 with the launch of the BMW 2002, equipped with a powerful two-liter engine that came to define the concept of the sports sedan and cemented BMW's reputation as an international manufacturer of driver-focused cars. Over the years, the series was expanded with engine options such as the 1802 and the fuel-efficient 1502, and with various body styles including a convertible, a targa, and the three-door hatchback variant Touring. The model reached its technical peak in 1973 with the BMW 2002 turbo, which was Europe's first series-produced passenger car with an exhaust-driven turbocharger. However, the turbo model was launched right at the start of the oil crisis, which limited production to only 1,672 examples and made it a highly sought-after collector's item. In total, over 820,000 examples of the 02 series were built in Munich before production was phased out. The success laid the foundation for the company's new brand philosophy and paved the way for its successor, the BMW 3 Series (E21), which took over the segment in 1975.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
