On the last weekend of May, it’s time for the second edition of Gothenburg Classic Car Weekend (GCCW). Just like last year, the event will be held in the historic Lindholmen shipyard area in Gothenburg, and this year the organizers are aiming to double the exhibition space, both indoors and outdoors. The goal is also to attract twice as many visitors – increasing from last year’s 20,000 to 40,000 this year.
The heart of Gothenburg Classic Car Weekend beats for classic cars, but there is also room for motorcycles, motorhomes, new electric cars, aircraft engines, and other attractions connected to car culture.
“Our ambition is to create an event that appeals to the traditional classic car enthusiast, but also to a younger audience who appreciate hypercars and modern vehicles. New for this year is a dedicated area for families and children,” says Fredrik Dahlgren, Event Manager for Gothenburg Classic Car Weekend.
Party on Saturday and Family Day on Sunday
GCCW takes place over two days, Saturday May 30 and Sunday May 31. In total, there is space for more than 500 cars and other vehicles.
Saturday concludes with a party at Vassen Market, located directly adjacent to the exhibition area. Vassen Market is a large venue featuring street food and live music, opening in May.
Sunday has been dubbed “Sunday Funday” by GCCW, with special activities arranged for children. Children also receive free admission when accompanied by an adult.
“There should be something for everyone, and that is reflected both in the exhibition and the program. Our motto is ‘From Past to Present,’ and visitors will experience everything from hundred-year-old vehicles to brand-new electric cars. GCCW is also held at Lindholmen – a historic industrial environment that has evolved into a modern district with homes, offices, hotels, restaurants, and exhibition spaces,” says Fredrik Dahlgren.
A Natural Car Event in Gothenburg
Last year marked the first Gothenburg Classic Car Weekend, and it received a very positive response. The organizers therefore decided to make GCCW a recurring event.
“Cars play a central role in Gothenburg’s business community and culture. That makes it only logical for the city to have a major annual vehicle-related event. In organizing GCCW, we collaborate with Göteborg & Co, who provide excellent support for the event,” says Fredrik Dahlgren.
