Austin Mini Pick-up – A Workhorse on the Brink of Extinction

An ordinary Austin Mini has plenty of charm. As a pick-up, it becomes completely irresistible — and extremely rare. Only around 1 percent of all Minis produced were pick-ups, and the vast majority have disappeared; they were simply worked to death.

It is therefore no surprise that this 1968 Austin is the first Mini pick-up we at Bilweb Auctions have had the opportunity to sell since 2017, when we started the business.
The car arrived in Sweden in 2002, and its early history is unknown — although naturally possible to research for an interested buyer.

It is said to have been restored by its first Swedish owner and was completed in 2010. The current owner is a Mini enthusiast who is now searching for an even rarer Mini: a Minivan, the panel van version.

Today, the auction car features more modern seats and Minilite wheels, but the original items remain for the buyer who values originality highly. The 850 engine has, perhaps unsurprisingly, been replaced by its larger 1098 cc sibling, which significantly improves drivability.

Two soft covers including frames are included for anyone wanting to protect the cargo bed from the elements — while also giving the car a slightly different appearance.
For anyone seeking a car that creates more attention and bigger smiles than a multi-million-dollar Ferrari, this Mini is a safe bet.

This delightful workhorse from 1960s England is valued at between SEK 170,000 and 190,000. The auction ends on May 27.
