How many Jaguar XJ-S convertible with 57 000 kilometers on the clock, original paint, rust free and one owner for 33 years can there be? Well there is at least one - now for sale at Bilweb Auctions.
This car was sold new to a Swedish lady in 1989, when she and her husband lived and worked in Los Angeles. After 11 years they moved back to Sweden, but kept their house and their XJ-S in sunny California. The car was used only when they visited, otherwise it spent its time in a garage. During the last years it was driven very sparingly, hence the very low milage: 33 900 miles - 57 000 kilometers.
In 2022 it was sold to a Swedish Jaguar enthusiast who brought it home, gave it a comprehensive service and now is putting it up for sale.
This Jaguar XJ-S is unusual given its fully original state with untouched paint and no damages. It is completely rust free and the underpinnings looks like new, partly because it received a rust proofing treatment already as new. The interior is close to perfect and both the engine bay and the luggage compartment are very tidy. What gives it away as an US spec car is the twin headlights, the side markers, the slightly bigger bumpers and the speedo in both mph and km/h.
The engine is Jaguars famous direct injected V12 with a displacement of 5.3 litres and developing 244 horse power. This engine was introduced already in the E-Type in 1971 and was successively developed during 26 years. It is a silky smooth piece of machinery with a character only found with V12 engines, with sensationally low and well serviced milage.
Since this XJ-S is a model year 1989, it is also a true convertible, without the roll hoop over the seats that was in place up until 1988 due to US safety regulations.
This is a unique opportunity to own a stunning example of this Grand Tourer.
It has been valued by Bilweb Auction to between 180 000 and 220 000 SEK. The auction closes on 3 August.
