Low milaged muscles on Bilweb Auctions: 1971 Dodge Challenger in an outstanding original condition

It rolled out from the Dodge plant in Hamtramck outside Detroit, painted in the unusual Dark Bronze and equipped with the huge 330 horsepower, 6.3 litre, Magnum V8. The big R/T sticker on the hood told everybody that it had the Road/Track package with a stiffer chassis and anti-roll bars.

It was shipped to a Dodge dealer in New Jersey, where a married couple were seduced by its muscle charisma. They drove it sparingly up until the wife passed away in 1984, when it was stored in a garage.

The Challenger stayed there until 2019, when a Swedish Challenger aficionado was told about the car by an American friend. He didn’t hesitate, bought the car and brought it to the far North. It got a comprehensive service and has since then been driven fairly short distances during summer.

The odometer now shows 45711 miles, the equivalent of 73 560 kilometers - numbers that are reflected in the cars condition. It is namely uniquely well kept, with an interior that is close to mint condition, an engine bay with the same status, chrome, emblems wheels all alike.

A professional repaint was carried out three years ago, since somebody keyed the whole car in a parking lot, using words not suitable for print. The result if of a very high standard.

Small details that reinforces the authenticity of the Challenger has been kept: a sticker from Fairleigh-Dickinson University, a cracked Playboy bunny on the rear window, a supervisors sign-off mark under the hood and the same AM/FM radio that was factory mounted. Time has stood still.

Bilweb Auctions has valued this super-Challenger at between 600 000 and 700 000 SEK. The auction closes on 26 October.
