With an estimated auction value of nearly 10 million SEK, Bilweb Auctions' upcoming online auction is something truly special. Three American icons from the 1960s are expected to fetch some of the highest prices: Dodge Charger, Chevrolet Corvette, and Ford Mustang.
The upcoming auction will take place on June 27th, featuring 31 vehicles valued at up to 9.7 million SEK.
"We've had some auctions with a higher total value, but this one ranks very high in average value per vehicle, around 300,000 SEK," says Pontus Bärnarp, CEO of Bilweb Auctions.
Among the cars contributing to the high auction value is a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette – sold new in Sweden! The Corvette generation produced between 1963 and 1967, with the additional name Sting Ray, is considered the most beautiful ever. The auction car is in excellent condition with an almost perfect Elkhart Blue paint job. Several modifications have been made to improve drivability, such as a four-speed transmission and a top converted for unleaded gasoline, but all original parts are included.
This 1967 Sting Ray is valued between 900,000 and 1.1 million SEK.
Another exciting car in the upcoming auction is a 1968 Ford Mustang in Fastback configuration, valued between 650,000 and 750,000 SEK. When the Mustang Fastback received a new design in 1967, it became an immediate success and sales doubled. The auction car was purchased from Los Angeles in 1997 and has had four owners since it was imported. It is a very fine car that has been carefully maintained and restored by previous owners to retain its original condition. Extensive documentation remains from the restorations.
The third American icon is also from the transformative year of 1968. However, this Dodge Charger is not for those seeking absolute originality. It has been modified to a status that can probably be described as a variant on the increasingly popular restomod theme.
