An abundance of Rolls-Royces at Bilweb Auctions

Silver Cloud, Silver Spirit, Silver Shadow - and a Phantom. No less than four classic Rolls-Royce from a privat collection is now for sale on Bilweb Auctions.

Few automotive brands are so myth-surrounded as Rolls-Royce. With its eternally youthful lady on the radiator, Spirit of Ecstasy, the British marque has for more than 120 years been a symbol of luxury, prestige and technical perfection. It has been granted to few people to own a Rolls-Royce.

The four cars in the auction represents a time span of almost 50 years, from 1935 to 1983, and has been a part of the Sandahl family private museum in Sweden.

The newest one is a Silver Spirit from 1983, with only 70 000 kilometers on the clock and not driven since 2007. It got its Swedish registration in 1990, but is not noted as an import. Most probably has the Rolls-Royce market company in Sweden imported the car themselves from another European market. This would explain why it is a LHD, important to many outside the UK, less important to others. The 6.8 liter V8 was recently started after a long rest, but the car requires a full service to make it ready for the road. This goes for all the Rolls-Royces in the auction.
This Silver Spirit is valued at between 120 000 and 140 000 SEK.

Car number two, a LHD as well, is a Silver Shadow from 1968, and a beautiful representative for the exciting Sixties in Britain. It has a distinct Swedish history, starting with the delivery to its first owner a few days before Christmas in 1967 and then driven just 80 000 kilometers. The unusual combination of a high blue metallic and a red leather upholstery create an exclusive feeling. This Silver Shadow is valued at between 220 000 and 250 000 SEK.

Only four years younger, but representing a completely different era, is the Silver Cloud III from 1964. It is considered to be the most beautiful Rolls-Royce model of all times where the flowing lines, twin head lights and magnificent grille won’t leave any one unaffected. Since this car was imported from England in 2005, the steering wheel can be found on the right side. It has been displayed in the museum since 2006 and need a start up service. The odometer shows just over 35 000 miles, but t is clear if the number is correct. This Silver Cloud is valued at between 220 000 and 240 000 SEK.

The oldest car in the collection is a mighty pre-war Phantom II from 1935. It features a hand made aluminium body from Barker & Co in London, since Rolls-Royce didn’t start to make their own coach work until 1946. The cars early history is yet to be clarified, but it has been a part of the Sandahl collection since 1975. This Phantom is equipped with the awesome inline six of 7.7 litres and the model was produces in only 1 681 examples. It is valued at between 320 000 and 350 000 SEK.
