Three of a Kind – Saabs!

Saab fever seems to be constantly high in Sweden – and it’s not likely to cool down before Bilweb Auctions' upcoming auction.
Three colorful classics, carefully restored by a highly skilled Saab mechanic, are now waiting for new owners.

Jörgen Nilsson from Vislanda in Småland is a well-known name in Saab circles. His meticulousness is undisputed and matched with an unfailing sense for combining usability with faithfulness to the original.

Jörgen Nilsson’s restored Saabs all share the trait of having been completely dismantled, their bodies sandblasted, skillfully repaired for rust, and topped with professional-level paintwork.

The most eye-catching of the three auction cars is without a doubt the yellow pickup – a variant never produced by Saab themselves. Jörgen Nilsson bought it as a restoration project at Bilweb Auction in 2023 and has since carried out a total renovation. Now, it’s simply a matter of turning the key, driving, and enjoying the attention the car attracts.

Its origin is a 1977 Saab 95 wagon, which provides an excellent base for a pickup build. Bilweb Auctions has valued it between 90,000 and 100,000 SEK.

The orange 1974 Saab 95 wagon, also included in the auction, has kept its original cargo space. This too is what the English would call a “nut-and-bolt restoration” – a complete overhaul.

The so-called “soccer ball wheels” and the extra rear seat in the cargo area add to its charm. The estimated value is between 100,000 and 110,000 SEK.

The trio is completed by a Laser Red 96 from 1969, the first in Jörgen Nilsson’s collection, purchased in 2006 and then restored to the same high standard as its stablemates.

A lightly tuned engine has been installed, but the original engine in newly restored condition is included in the auction. Sportiness is emphasized by a Monte Carlo dashboard, though originality purists may re-install the original panel – should they wish to.

The estimated price range here is between 80,000 and 100,000 SEK.

The auction of these Saab classics is underway and ends on July 31.
