The car now going up for auction was purchased by the current owner’s father, who fully restored it during the 1970s.
Lifted from the frame
The Mercedes cabriolet was completely dismantled into its individual components, and the body was lifted off the frame. This was likely made easier by the fact that the father owned a car workshop. He was also very meticulous.
The car was registered in 1978 and was then used frequently during the summers. In 2018, the engine was removed and taken to Stuttgart, where it was restored.
In the same family for many years
Since the 1970s, the car has remained within the same family. The current owner is a passionate Mercedes enthusiast who has owned several Mercedes cars in his collection.
The car was driven until 2022 and then stored away until late summer 2025. At that point, it underwent a start-up service and now runs well. Extensive documentation is available and included with the purchase.
“The car was restored in the 1970s and is still in good condition and functions well,” says Ted Gryth, inspector at Bilweb Auctions.
