Large family collection on sale at Bilweb Auctions

During four net auctions Bilweb Auction will sell 38 classic cars from a family collection and museum. The listing includes Mercedeses, Jaguars, Rolls-Royces early Fords and GM:s full size models from the specific year of 1959. In the first auction round, closing on 8 February, 6 classic Mercedes from the 1950s up until the 1990s in on sale plus a few of the family’s faithful Volkswagens.

The star of the listing is a Mercedes 300 CE 24, a striking coupe from 1990 that has been in the family since new and with only 90 000 kilometers on the clock. It features the straight 3-litre six, producing 220 horse power. Somewhat unexpected it is mated to a close ratio 5-speed manual with a ”dog leg” shifting pattern, adding sportiness to an otherwise relaxed highway cruiser.

Mercedes’ 124 series was during the late 1980s and a decade ahead a benchmark for other premium brands in the middle class segment, not least when it came to build quality. This is clearly noticeable on the auction car. It is in a very good condition both exterior and interior wise, but has not been driven since 2008 being a part of the Sandahl family collection and museum.

This 300 CE has been valued by Bilweb Auction to between 200 000 and 250 000 SEK

To the auction

The remaining five classic Mercedes in the upcoming net auction are all diesels, a result of an unfinished ambition to collect one example of all the German brands compact models with that kind of engine:

-   1959 180 D
-   1964 190 D
-   1971 220 D
-   1983 300 D
-   1996 C 220 D

The continued sale of the Sandahl collection will be divided into another three auctions during February and March. The second auction contains 6 exclusive Jaguars and Rolls-Royces, the third lists mainly T- and A Fords and the fourth and last one nine GM full size models from 1959, the peak year for big fins.
